Strategy game set in the Star Trek universe

Star Trek: Starfleet Command 3 is a premium adventure game for PC from developer Taldren. It is the third entry to the popular Starfleet Command series of games. In it, players will be taking control of starships and going on story-driven missions across three factions in the Star Trek universe.

Joining the likes of Star Trek: Bridge Commander and Star Trek: Elite Force II, Star Trek: Starfleet Command 3 is part of a series of games that were rereleased on GOG.com in celebration of the franchise, 55th anniversary.  It lets newcomers experience some of its best releases from the past decades.

Fragile alliance

In Star Trek: Starfleet Command 3, the alliance between the Klingons and the United Federation of Planets has paved the way to the construction of a starbase called the Unity One that can detect cloaked ships in the neutral zone. However, the Romulans are not too keen on the new base and proceed to destroy and disrupt the peace between the two allied factions.

This overarching narrative will have you become a pilot for all three factions to experience the story from each perspective. The ships you'll be piloting are fully customizable with different weapons, shields, and even crew members that will operate core systems. Come up with different load-outs for every situation and monitor your energy levels to ensure victory in real-time ship-to-ship battles.

Additionally, there's a bonus Conquest Campaign wherein you can play as the Borg in objective-based missions. There's also the Dynaverse multiplayer mode letting players battle for galactic supremacy. Just a couple of things to note. The first is the game is quite difficult with its surprisingly challenging AI. The second is that you can't save during missions, so you'll have to complete them first or start over again.

An epic intergalactic war

If you're a fan of the Starfleet Command series and Star Trek, in general, then Star Trek: Starfleet Command 3 is a must-play. From the overarching narrative to the engaging and challenging combat, there's a lot to like about this game. The bonus campaign where you can be the Borg is just the icing on the cake. Just go play it now.
